The short version
- We don't collect, sell or share any personal data.
- There are no accounts, ads, analytics or third-party SDKs.
- Your decks, photos and videos stay on your phone, unless you choose to back them up to your own iCloud.
Information we collect
None. Guess Out Loud doesn't run its own servers and doesn't send information about you or how you use the app to us or anyone else. The app doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
What stays on your device
To make the game work, the app saves the following on your iPhone:
- Your custom decks, personal words and photo cards
- Saved rounds, including names, scores and any recorded videos
- Recently played words, so you don't see the same ones too often
- Preferences such as your language and whether you've seen the tutorial
Recorded videos are left out of your phone's automatic device backup. Deleting the app removes all of this data from your phone.
Camera and microphone
Recording is optional. If you turn it on, the app asks for camera and microphone access so it can film your friends giving clues and play the round back afterwards. Recording happens only during a round you choose to record. Videos are saved on your phone, and you can delete any round from Afterparty at any time.
Motion
The app uses your iPhone's motion sensors to detect when you tilt the phone down (correct) or up (pass). Motion readings are used during the round and aren't stored.
Photos
When you add a photo card, Apple's photo picker gives the app only the photos you select, never your whole library. If you choose Save video, the app asks permission to add that video to your photo library. It never reads your existing photos to do this.
Optional iCloud backup
Guess Out Loud Plus includes an optional iCloud backup, which is off by default. If you turn it on, your decks, personal words, photos, saved rounds and videos are stored in your own iCloud account through Apple. We can't see or access them. Apple's privacy policy applies to data stored in iCloud. You can turn backup off in the app, and you can remove stored data in your iPhone's iCloud storage settings.
Purchases
Guess Out Loud Plus subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, email or payment details. The app only checks with Apple whether your subscription is active. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple account settings.
Sharing
Videos leave the app only when you share or save them yourself. After that, the app or service you share them to handles them under its own terms.
Children
Guess Out Loud is a game for all ages and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
